(Kim Campagna is the guest writer today.) “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10; NKJV) God’s word is awesome. Every reading brings fresh insight and God-inspired change to our lives. Recently, I read something that blessed me immensely. If you have ever had a bout with self-doubt, go straight to the epistle of Ephesians, chapter two and verse ten. You are God’s “workmanship.” (Oh, but you knew that already.) But did you also know that the word “workmanship” means “handmade?” Think about it. Indeed, the Greek word that is used is poiema, pronounced POY- AY- MAH. Poiema is the very word from which we derive our words, poem and poetry. Thus, God is “the Word” and we are “His poetry,” beautifully written poems by the hand of God. Have you read your life as such lately? If not, put a comma or a period into it. Then read the life song that God has and is drafting thoughtfully for you. Of course, a poem can take mere seconds to read, but much more time to understand especially when it’s a “life poem.” Understanding comes as we abide with Christ. Reading your own poem is just the start. For each of your brothers and sisters in Jesus’ lives are God’s poetry, too. We are all expressions of our Savior in “good works.” So take time to read the workmanship of God, the poem, in the lives of those around you. You might be surprised to see that they, also, really are His masterpieces in progress. In the end may all our deeds be an ode, a work of praise, to Jesus Christ!
