Return To The Book

Journey to the Celestial City #23. In our continuing look at John Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress,” today we find the man, Christian, having continued on his journey without his roll, he ventures across a couple of men running the other way. They are Timorous and Mistrust whose frightening counsel regards two lions in the road just ahead. Christian is sent into fear. He thus reaches for his roll for instruction, but finds it gone. In Christian’s deepening distress, he’s moved to search for his roll. He finds it in the place where he left it. And the Scriptures are for our encouragement, uplifting and salvation. But how many Bibles sit around gathering dust while we make our own way to heaven? Let us return to God’s Word. In doing so we will receive renewed vigor for the trek. “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) More to come in the next blog post.
