4 Things God Has Taught Me

In our monthly gathering of men at church we invite various brothers to share their testimony. A “testimony” is simply when you tell others what God’s been doing in your life. It can include (and often does) how you were awakened to Christ and initially began serving Him, but it need not (nor should it) stop there. Because once you are saved that’s really when your life gets exciting as moment by moment following Jesus you become “more and more like [your] glorious Lord.” (2 Cor 3:18; CEV) Has it been true for you? Sure it has. Which brings me to a short testimony of my own. And God uses the experiences of our lives to teach us about Himself, how He operates and to show us the path He wants us to take. Certainly it’s how He’s communicated with me. And so real quick, here are:

4 things God has taught me…

  • In a freeway car crash. God will even confront us with death to get our attention.
  • In throwing away my worldly record albums (dates me). There must be a complete break with the past and ungodliness.
  • In meeting my wife (now of 21 years). The very answer to your prayers might be right under your nose.
  • In almost going back to my day job. Keith Green’s “So You Wanna Go Back to Egypt” started playing on the radio. We must stick to God’s course despite the hardship.
