“There was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7d)
There was no room? There was no room for Joseph? There was no room for Mary? There was no room for the plan of redemption (the saving of people from their sins)? There was no room for God?! (Selah~pause to reflect)
And the Christ of the universe shows up to “occupy” our lives, too (it’s the message of the story), to take up residence, to find a place in our hearts – and there’s already something there? – where He was meant to be? – where He was purposed to dwell? – where He fits?!
“Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in!” (Psalm 24:7)
“‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.'” (Revelation 3:20)
