(This is a follow up to: “Where is God When Disaster Strikes?“)
“There was a man in the land of Uz . . . and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.” (Job 1:1)
Thus the story of Job begins (pronounced “Joe-b”). Job’s a good guy. He loves the Lord. He has a large family. (Job 1:2) He has a lot of stuff. (Job 1:3)
That’s when Satan steps in to make a mess of Job. (Job 1:6-12) His livestock and livelihood are stolen or lost. (Job 1:14-17) His seven kids lose their lives in a tornado. (Job 1:18-19) Lastly, Job loses his health. (Job 2:7)
How could God let this happen to Job? Add to that, he loves the Lord. Aren’t His people supposed to be immune to suffering?
