“‘And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man.'” (Luke 17:26)
So what was it like on that last day prior to the Flood? (Genesis 6:1-8) I mean, Noah had been building a great, big boat (the Ark) for long, long time. It was the ultimate construction process lasting decades (10 x 10 equals 100 years to be exact). (Genesis 5:32; 7:6, 11)
But the last day came. (Think about it.) The last nail was pounded. The last laying down of the hammer. The last closing up shop. And Noah got in to the Ark (and his family with him and all the animals, too). (Remember, the Church sometimes smells, too, but it’s the only thing that floats!) And God closed Noah in. Seven more days pass. (Genesis 7:10) And that wa it.
It started to rain.
And so what was it like?
What was it like outside the Ark? (Selah ~ pause to reflect)
Paul offers an interesting answer that has been intriguing me for some time: “While they are saying, ‘Peace and safety!’ then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3)
That’s what it was like outside the Ark after Noah went. They were saying, “Everything’s gonna be okay. Everything’s under control. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Don’t worry about that stupid, Noah, guy. What does he know anyway?”
So what are they saying today?
