Jesus’ Father, Joseph: A Godly Dad

I want to talk to you about being a father your kids can count on. And the way I want to do it is by offering you four characteristics of a godly dad.

Jesus’ earthly father, Joseph, displays each of the characteristics in Matthew 1:18-25.

The first characteristic Joseph displays is: He controls himself sexually. How do we know it? Well, we know it from verses 18 and 25.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together (that part in italics is what I wanted you to see). (Matthew 1:18a)
