The Foolishness of “1”

“When u connect w/1, u connect w/many. If u want 2 connect w/many, connect w/1.”

The “numbers” thing. That’s what it’s all about with social media. Isn’t it? Be honest. You look at how many are following you on Twitter each day (some of you) ~ whether it’s gone up or down. You care about how many are subscribed to your blog, too. Hmm? You’re wanting a thousand subscribers or ten thousand ~ because, you see, that “means something.” Right? And you also compare. Don’t lie. How many does so-and-so have versus me. Tell the truth. Don’t lie. 🙂

And don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I don’t ascribe to social proof (as it’s referred to). But if you’re a Christian, it’s different. It ought to be. The only stamp of approval we need is God’s, Christ’s. Also, we’re not in this for numbers (though you wonder about some “mega-church” pastors). We’re in it for doing God’s will. What is His will for you? If it’s not accumulating a large following on Twitter, Facebook and Google+, then you need to be doing something else ~ what God wants you to do. (Who needed to hear that?)

And the simple fact is my statement above: It just might be God’s will for you to reach only one (or a relatively tiny few) via social media who in turn will be the one(s) to reach the masses.

Be faithful.
