“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
On the first play from scrimmage in overtime Denver Bronco quarterback Tim Tebow stunned the Pittsburgh Steelers with an 80-yard touchdown pass to win in the first round of the NFL playoffs (see video below).
The Drudge Report headline after the game was: “Amazing Grace.”
And why not? Tebow’s season has been nothing less. And now he defeats a heavily-favored and number one defensive team in the league?!
And he did by throwing 10 passes for 316 yards. What’s so amazing about that is it’s Tebow’s favorite verse in the Bible. John 3:16 is.
He wore it painted on his eye-black while he played college football in Florida.
And then during the BCS championship game in 2009, upwards of 92 million people did a search for the term the Huffington Post quotes the Palm Beach Post’s report.
And now Tebow throws for an electrifying 316 yards? (John 3:16.) 10 passes? That’s 31.6 yards per pass. (John 3:16 again!)
But it’s not about a number, a Bible verse address, football, or even a quarterback named Tim. (He would be the first to tell you that.)
It’s about reaching a world lost in sin as it’s entered the end of the age. (John 3:16)
It’s about getting the message of God’s love and forgiveness out by all means possible. (John 3:16)
And it’s about responding to the message like a young man living his NFL dream has done. (John 3:16)
Well done, good and faithful servant, Tim. (Matthew 25:21; NIV)

This is a wonderful article about a true Christian young man! It is so refreshing to hear about a Guy like Tim in this world. I received Tim’s book for Christmas. God Bless Tim Tebow and his family.

Great post. It’s amazing how much talk goes on about God favoring a football team or player. As you said, “it’s not about a number, a Bible verse address, football, or even a quarterback named Tim. It’s about reaching a world lost in sin” Now being a Patriots fan I can honestly say it doesn’t matter who wins the game tonight because God will get the glory and His purposes will be carried out. Go Pats 🙂
Matthew 6:5 5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
