“I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me round about.” (Psalm 3:6)
(This is the second in a series: Taking It to the Streets.)
When I first became a believer in Jesus Christ, I was thrust into ministry ~ street evangelism (to be exact)! There was one place in my hometown where we would especially go every Friday night to share the Gospel. (One thing I remember quite vividly is the high priority put on prayer before we would go.)
As a baby Christian (not a year or so old in the Lord) I was just learning. Two men in particular were my “disciplers” who would show me the ropes. (A “discipler” as we referred to them back in the day are what we call “mentors” in our day.)
So one night we went out and there was a rather large crowd that had gathered. Then it happened…
Gun shot.
The crowd scattered.
I said, “What was that?” My disciplers said, “Gun shot.”
I was scared.
But the thing about it was (and I am still struck by it to this day), my two disciplers were as calm as could be.
