10 Mistakes People Make with God (plus 1 bonus):
1. Think He DOESN’T EXIST (atheism).
2. Think He DOES EXIST, but is uninvolved/uninterested (deism) in what is happening on the planet (He wound the universe up like a clock and left).
3. Think there are more ways to get to heaven aside from the one God has designed. (John 14:6)
4. Are afraid of Him (sometimes because a father-figure in their own life is/has been angry/harsh). (Isaiah 40:11)
5. Don’t understand He is a Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) while at the same time one God. (Genesis 1:26a)
6. Forget they will stand before Him to give account of their deeds whether good or bad after this life is through. (Hebrews 9:27)
7. Think God sends people to hell (no, hell was prepared for the devil and fallen angels; people of their own free will choose to go to hell). (2 Peter 3:9; Matthew 25:41b)
8. Misunderstand His love as being tolerant of ungodliness (no, God’s love is sacrificial, choosing for the highest help of the object of its affection and not based on feelings/emotions). (John 3:16; 2 Timothy 2:19)
9. Expect God’s blessing, guidance, rescue even though they have never surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:28)
10. Don’t grasp God is Jesus and Jesus is God. (Exodus 3:14; John 8:58; Titus 2:13)
BONUS Take His name in vain (even using OMG is a degrading/diminishing of the greatness of the name above all names). (Exodus 20:7; Philippians 2:10)
