10 Mistakes People Make with Death and Dying (plus 1 bonus):
1. Believe death is the end and there is nothing more following. (Hebrews 9:27)
2. Never dare talk about it (it’s the most important subject above everything else).
3. Don’t prepare for death and dying (you will never truly live until you are ready to die). (John 3:16)
4. Forget that Jesus holds the keys of death (no one dies except Christ Himself gives the “okay” ~ He has the final say). (Revelation 1:18)
5. Are afraid of death and dying when they don’t have to be. (Hebrews 2:14-15; Psalm 56:3)
6. Forget that the believer in Jesus Christ may just suffer physical martyrdom for his faith (even via a family member?). (Matthew 10:21-22; Revelation 6:9-11; Hebrews 12:4)
7. Forget that the believer in Jesus Christ who dies will be raised from the dead. (John 11:23-25; Romans 6:5)
8. Don’t realize there isn’t just one death, but two. (Revelation 20:14-15; Proverbs 14:12)
9. Offer false hope to the dying via false religion, belief systems (there is no such thing as reincarnation, purgatory, etc).
10. Live in the unreality that death and dying won’t come suddenly, in a moment, without warning. (Matthew 24:43)
BONUS Forget that the believer in Jesus Christ never really “dies” (“to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”). (2 Corinthians 5:8b; Romans 8:38-39)
