Sharing the Gospel with Wild Animals: You Might Get Bit (or Worse)

White Tigers“‘Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.'” (Matthew 7:6)

The above verse came to mind as I recalled two tragic happenings of the past. You may have heard about them.

TIGER ATTACK

The first surrounded a Las Vegas animal entertainer whose tiger turned on him during a show leaving him clinging to life in an area hospital.

KILLED BY A BEAR

The second had a couple whose studies focused on the habits of the bear. They ended up being killed by one while attending to their wilderness research.

Each of these horrific accidents are vivid examples of what can happen if you’re not careful around wild animals.

SHARING THE GOSPEL WITH “WILD ANIMALS”

And so it is with sharing the gospel.

It isn’t talked about much I think. Our emphasis (and rightfully so) is on sharing God’s love with all people that some might be saved. But there’s another side of the coin that can be forgotten. There are men who would have nothing to do with the gospel. They’ve heard it and they’ve made a decision against it. Either they’ve decided it’s a crutch for the weak-willed or Jesus was just a really good man, but not the Son of God or, “Quite frankly, I just want to go on and live my life and enjoy sinning, thank you!”

It is these that we need the discernment of the Lord as regards. To continue to press and press them may just lead to a situation where we could be harmed (at least verbally, but maybe in some cases even physically).

Some people you need to just give them over to God and pray for them and move on to a more open soul.
