10 Mistakes People Make with Wrong Doctrine (plus 1 bonus):
1. Preach wrong doctrine if they’re in the pulpit (includes using other texts apart from the Bible). (2 Peter 2:1-3; 1 Timothy 6:3-5; 2 Timothy 3:16)
2. Listen to wrong doctrine if they’re in the pew / chairs. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
3. Live their lives based on wrong doctrine (a “Christian” who is pro-choice / supports abortion or a man having sex with a man and a woman having sex with a woman?). (1 Timothy 1:10; 4:1-3)
4. Slink back from confronting wrong doctrine. (1 Timothy 1:3; 2 Timothy 4:15)
5. Forget wrong doctrine leads to hell. (Matthew 7:15-23; 15:14)
6. Overlook there are more “churches” / religious organizations based on wrong doctrine rather than right. (Matthew 7:13-14)
7. Forget that in the last days (before Jesus comes back to earth) the majority of people will flock to wrong doctrine (a mark of larger churches?). (2 Thessalonians 2:3, 9-10)
8. Use wrong doctrine to divide (cause “dissension” / strong disagreement in) the church. (Romans 16:17)
9. Forget that the worst of wrong doctrine misrepresents Jesus Christ (says things like: He was only a good man; He didn’t rise from the dead; He isn’t the only way to heaven). (John 8:58; Mark 16:6; John 14:6)
10. Overlook that false ministers use wrong doctrine as a means to attain great wealth. (1 Timothy 6:10; 2 Corinthians 11:13-15; Galatians 1:8)
BONUS Overlook that to not confront wrong doctrine is to become a participant in the promotion of it. (2 John 1:9-11)
