“And they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
We need each other as believers in Jesus Christ. God has created the church in just this way. I need you and you need me.
To grow in the faith, I need you and you need me.
To overcome temptation, I need you and you need me.
To receive support in times of stress, I need you and you need me.
To reach out to those without Christ, I need you and you need me.
And so on and so forth it’s true in a lot of areas.
Too many Christians are wilting on the vine and having a hard time handling life. And I’d daresay part of the reason why is they’re not plugged in to the fellowship of believers as they ought to be.
There’s something supernatural that a person can only get when he goes to church and is around other Christians.
You can’t get it by watching Christian television. You can’t get it by listening to Christian music. You can’t get it by reading Christian books or by anything else except “koinonia.”
Surely you’ve heard that Greek word used before in your experience as a Christian. (Forgive me for getting “Greek” on you!)
The Greek lexicon says “koinonia” is fellowship (see verse above). It’s being around other believers and relating one to another for the good of all.
“Koinonia.”
It’s what the early church had and it’s what we need if we are to live successful Christian lives.
When was the last time you were in church? (Of course, I’m not talking about a building, but of a gathering of men and women who love the Lord.)
I need you and you need me. (Hebrews 10:25)
