Alpha and Omega

The Greek letters alpha and omega surround the halo of Jesus in the catacombs of Rome from the 4th century“‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God.'” (Revelation 1:8a)

THE BEGINNING AND END OF THE STORY

I was watching Pastor Jack Hayford’s TV show where he was teaching on the above verse about how it was interesting that our Lord chose this way to reveal Himself using the first (alpha) and last letter (omega) of the Greek alphabet.

And basically what he was saying about it was that Jesus is both the beginning of the story and the end of the story and He’s got a handle on everything in between.

And not only is it true for history and the world and at that level of things, but it’s also true where it really means the most to us – in the midst of our lives and at the level of our experience and the things we deal with.

Let me say it again.

Jesus is both the beginning of the story (He created us all and designed a plan for each of us to fulfill) and Jesus is the end of the story (we will all bow before Him and confess that Christ is Lord at the end of time) and He’s got a handle on everything in between.

THE “IN BETWEEN”

This is where we’re at now – in the “in between.”

And for some of us it may seem that our story – well, let me just put it to you this way: we’re in the midst of a bad chapter (or two or three!).

If this is you, God would have you to be reminded who the Writer of your story is.

Jesus started your story.

Jesus is still involved in the “in between” of your story now.

And Jesus will be the One to end your story. (Philippians 1:6)

And it’s true that every one of Christ’s storylines for those who trust in Him end as follows:

“And they lived happily ever after.”

Therefore, take heart.

There truly are good days ahead.
