It was a year ago today that my mother died (May 13, 2014).
We were all there (my brothers, my sister, my dad) when she breathed her last.
LUNG CANCER
It all started ten months earlier with a chest pain.
The diagnosis was Stage 4 Non Smokers Lung Cancer.
There was no cure.
What?
GOD SPOKE TO ME
That’s when God spoke to me. (He’s good that way.)
He said, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies.” (John 11:25)
And if I’ve learned anything as a Christian it’s this: Our God is a God of the right place at the right time with the right word.
I would go on to rehearse that verse in my mind over and over and over again.
JESUS COULD NEVER LIE
Mom was home on hospice now.
A lady came to speak about end of life and what to expect.
She shared of others’ experiences, seeing a light, etc.
She was doing all she could do to give assurance.
That’s when my mom looked at me and said, “So what do you think about all this?”
It came out, what God had spoken months earlier.
I answered, “Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies.'”
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
“And Jesus could never tell a lie, Mom. If He said it, we can believe it.”
My mom settled back in her bed.
