Lightning fast read meant to make you think…
10 Mistakes People Make with God’s Will (plus 1 bonus):
1. Don’t realize there is a general will of God for all people (e.g. You must believe in Jesus Christ to go to Heaven after this life is through).
2. Don’t realize there is a specific will of God for all people (e.g. the specific place you will live or go to school, the specific person you will marry, etc). (Acts 17:26)
3. Overlook that the Bible is the complete explanation of the will of God. (Mark 3:35; Romans 12:2; 1 Thessalonians 4:3, 5:17; 1 Peter 2:15, 3:17)
4. Prioritize other “voices” about God’s will above what the Bible says. (Isaiah 30:21)
5. Think God hears their prayers even though they have chosen to live outside the will of God. (Psalm 66:18; John 9:31)
6. Overlook that many times God’s will is 180 degrees out of phase with (different than) our own. (Isaiah 55:8-9; Luke 22:42)
7. Dismiss/forsake counsel which can help guide us when trying to discern the will of God/path to take. (Proverbs 15:22; Romans 12:1-2)
8. Forget that it is against God’s will that any person go to Hell. (2 Peter 3:9)
9. Forget that it is against God’s will to engage in sex outside of heterosexual marriage (sex outside of marriage is actually an indication that a person has no relationship with God in the first place). (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5)
10. Don’t allow for a person to determine God’s will on their own, but try to force them into what they think God’s will is for them.
BONUS Overlook that God’s will is as simple as just being grateful in whatever situation we find ourselves in (for one thing, Jesus is with us no matter what is happening while all the time He is moving all circumstances towards a good end – and that is something to cheer about!). (1 Thessalonians 5:8; Hebrews 13:5)
