Pastor Mike here with six more women and five more lessons.
Woman #1 is Rahab the prostitute.
However, Rahab the harlot and her father’s household and all she had, Joshua spared; and she has lived in the midst of Israel to this day, for she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. (Joshua 6:25)
And the lesson is:
Faith receives its reward.
Woman #2 is Deborah, a judge and prophetess in Israel.
Now [Deborah] sent and summoned Barak … and said to him, “Behold, the Lord, the God of Israel, has commanded, ‘Go and march to Mount Tabor, and take with you ten thousand men from the sons of Naphtali and from the sons of Zebulun. I will draw out to you Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his many troops to the river Kishon, and I will give him into your hand.'” (Judges 4:6-7)
And the lesson is:
God’s instruments of deliverance are of His choosing, who both hear His voice and obey.
Woman #3 is Michal, King David’s wife.
Then it happened as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David that Michal the daughter of Saul looked out the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart. (2 Samuel 6:16)
And the lesson is:
Bitterness can cause you to hate someone else’s relationship with God.
Can you trust God with what’s happened to you and choose joy instead?
Woman #4 is the Queen of Sheba.
Then she (the queen) said to the king, “It was a true report that I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom. Nevertheless I did not believe the reports, until I came and my eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was not told me. You exceed in wisdom and prosperity the report which I heard.” (1 Kings 10:6-7)
And the lesson is:
Everything about the worth and wisdom of Christ can pass even the strictest of scrutiny.
And finally, Woman #5 and #6 are Elizabeth and Mary, John’s the Baptist’s and Christ’s mothers.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. And she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” (Luke 1:41-42)
And the lesson is:
Women are not on the outside, but at the very center of God’s plan.
