Classic Manipulative Prophecy: God Said Donald Trump Is The Next President

WORD MANIPULATION

“Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” (Acts 17:11; NIV)

I want to decipher a portion of the transcript of the video above and point out some characteristics of word manipulation and how it can be used in the Church to coerce.

(It is important that you watch the video in its entirety.)

And whether or not the prophecy in this video has been purposely manufactured, I don’t know. (I have my opinion on it.)

The bottom line is we ought not to just receive these things as being from God that people foist upon us carte blanche.

Here’s the transcript (with my comments):

COLBERT: Now to set up this, I want the Church to hear me.

I know that you all look for people who are gonna lead this nation to be somebody ideally who believes in the Bible, knows the Bible, but I’m gonna tell you something – you have to line up with what God wants.

(ME: And so right out the gate, the manipulation is in the emphasizing that what she is about to say – or, in this case, also, what the man with the prophecy is about to say – is what God wants. Do you see that there? It’s important to note. She continues…)

This is not about what we want.

This is about what God wants.

(ME: And so she goes on to emphasize it three times total so the word manipulation sticks. If you would have a problem with what’s coming – from her or from him – then it’s not them or the message that you have a problem with. The problem you have is with God. Do you see that? It’s classic manipulation with words and – dare I say? – it’s a controlling mechanism. She continues further…)

Now God sees people – He sees the heart of people.

We look on the outward appearance, but God sees their heart.

And He (God) knows there’s something in them (people) that is for a purpose that He has brought about.

BAKKER: Now you met him first (referring to a fireman named Mark Taylor that gives the prophecy that Trump is to be president) and he gave you this prophecy.

COLBERT: I knew immediately it was a word of God.

BAKKER: You were the first one to get this prophecy privately and so it wasn’t on TV or anything.

And you heard this and this was before Trump declared running for president.

COLBERT: It was in May of last year. Ted Cruz had announced he was running for president. And my initial reaction with Ted, of course like a lot of the Evangelicals was, “Yay, Ted. Finally a conservative and a voice.”

But the minute I read the prophecy I recognized the voice of God. And I stepped back and I said, “But God. Father. What are you saying?”

BAKKER: I want people to hear Mark. And they don’t have to believe.

(ME: Thank you, Mr. Bakker. I appreciate that you are allowing me a choice in this matter. But if it’s God really speaking like Colbert as adamantly attested to, wouldn’t we be disbelieving God? But I digress…)

BAKKER: Listen. I have told that God I’m gonna put the unknown prophets on this broadcast and the people can discern. It’s about time you all prayed for discernment.

(ME: Why doesn’t Jim Bakker pray for discernment?)

BAKKER: Because who you vote for or who you don’t for or what you’re doing – it’s life and death right now in this country.

(ME: So is really the purpose here to get people to vote for Trump instead of Hillary? Colbert comes back at this point…)

PROOF-TEXTING

COLBERT: And I know that one of the things the Church is grieved about is that Donald Trump calls people names. They don’t like that. The Church gets embarrassed by it. But can I tell you something: Jesus called people names. He called Herod a fox. He called the religious people white-washed tombs and vipers and snakes. My Jesus…

BAKKER: That’s really dirty to be called a tomb.

COLBERT: My Jesus was a name caller. So get over the name calling. (Chuckling.)

(ME: So now Donald Trump in his calling Ted Cruz, “Lyin’ Ted,” and using a veiled reference to Ted’s wife, Heidi’s less than pretty face in a tweet – among many other of Trump’s slanderous statements – these are to be accepted by the Church since Jesus called people names, too? This is proof-texting in its basest form.)

Now the rest of the video contains the retired fireman, Mark Taylor’s prophecy about Donald Trump being the next president.

Suffice it to say that the convoluted way it came about proves its false.

TRUMP MAY OR MAY NOT BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT

In conclusion, these could be right.

Donald Trump may be the next president.

Or Donald Trump may not be the next president.

There is a 50-50 chance.

It’s a flip of the coin.

If he is president, I expect Colbert and Taylor will take credit for it.

Maybe even write a book?

And if he is not the next president, I’d expect they’ll say they must have missed something “in the Spirit,” sluff it off and move on to their next prophecy.
